LAMBDA()
Defines a custom, reusable function using Excel's own formula language — no VBA required.
LAMBDA([parameter1, parameter2, …,] calculation)LAMBDA builds a custom function out of a formula: list the parameters it should accept, then the calculation that uses them. Typed directly into a cell, LAMBDA must be called immediately with the argument values, like =LAMBDA(x,x*x)(5).
Its real power comes from Name Manager: save a LAMBDA under a name like ConvertKgToLbs, and it behaves exactly like a built-in function everywhere in the workbook — reusable, without VBA, without a helper column.
LAMBDA can call itself recursively for step-by-step calculations, and is often combined with LET to name intermediate steps inside the function body.
Available in Excel 365 and Excel 2021+.
