Version history

Recover earlier workbook versions and compare what changed.

QUICK NOTES
  • File > Info > Version History only works for files stored on OneDrive or SharePoint -- a purely local file has no automatic version list.
  • AutoSave (the toggle at the top-left of the window) needs to be on for meaningful version snapshots to build up over a working session.
  • Restoring an older version opens it as a separate view first -- it won't silently overwrite the current file until you explicitly choose Restore.
04Intermediate

Review-ready workbook design

Structure sheets so managers, clients, and teammates can follow the logic.

QUICK NOTES
  • Put the summary or conclusion sheet first, not last -- a reviewer shouldn't have to click through every tab to find out what the workbook is telling them.
  • Name sheet tabs for what a reviewer needs to check ('Q3 Summary', 'Assumptions') rather than internal shorthand only the builder understands.
  • Add a short 'How to read this' note near the top of the summary sheet if the workbook's logic isn't self-evident from labels alone.
